8 Tickets: Redefining the Wine Experience for the Youth

A Unique and Memorable Design by Juan Manuel Rodríguez Prous

In the wine sector, companies are constantly redesigning their images to attract new audiences. However, no one has thought about the experience of the youth. How can we bring wine to them through a memorable and participative experience? How can we show young people that wine can be a regular consumption product rather than being limited to special occasions?

Introducing 8 Tickets, a revolutionary wine packaging design created by Juan Manuel Rodríguez Prous. This innovative design aims to bridge the gap between the youth and wine consumption, offering a unique and engaging experience.

What sets 8 Tickets apart is its visual universe that is easily recognizable by the youth and decontextualized public. The design showcases different contexts and situations in which wine can be enjoyed, making it relatable and appealing to the target audience. The incorporation of a game at the back of the bottle adds an element of surprise and interactivity, making the product a memorable experience for the user.

The production process of 8 Tickets involves careful selection of materials, printing the label on polar White paper, and the die-cutting and folding of the map and stickers. The map, which serves as a playful and participative builder of the consumption memory, is then pasted onto the bottle.

With dimensions of 85 mm x 85 mm x 300 mm for the product and 297 mm x 210 mm for the map, 8 Tickets is designed to be visually appealing and compact. The stickers, measuring 69 mm x 100 mm, add a personal touch to the overall experience.

8 Tickets allows consumers to create lasting memories of the moment in which the product is consumed through a game. The map inside the bottle explains the dynamics of the game and provides stickers for customization. The exterior of the bottle provides a frame for users to draw, paste stickers, or write, allowing them to build and reinforce their own unique wine consumption experience.

The project, which started in October 2016 and concluded in March 2017, was carried out in Toledo. Extensive research was conducted to understand the needs and preferences of young people, including focus groups and journey mapping. Benchmarking in the wine and packaging design sectors provided valuable insights and inspiration for the design process.

Despite the challenges of identifying young people's needs, designing a participatory experience, and standing out in a crowded market, 8 Tickets emerged as a creative solution with high differential value. Its unique visual code and interactive elements make it a standout design in the wine industry.

8 Tickets has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017, a prestigious accolade that celebrates designs that exhibit resourcefulness, creativity, and contribute to quality of life improvements.

With 8 Tickets, Juan Manuel Rodríguez Prous has successfully redefined the wine experience for the youth, making wine more accessible and enjoyable for a new generation of consumers.
